What will happen once I have signed my child up to start with HFHC?
We will invite you in to complete the necessary registration paperwork. We would book in some settling sessions for your child (as many as the child may need to settle, this is usually from 2 sessions to 4 sessions but can be more if needed).
The first settling session will be called a 'Stay and Play'; this will consist of you staying with your child in the room and talking to the Room Leader of your child's room, where you will fill out an 'All About Me' form for your child to help us get to know your child.
We will explain anything you may have to bring in for your child before they start, e.g. slippers, nappies, wipes etc.
How do I know my child is safe with you?
All our members of staff are friends or family members, so everyone knows everyone! This enables us to keep the 'Home from Home' feel about the setting.
All staff undergo a thorough DBS (Barred Service) check, carried out by the police, to ensure that they have a clear record to work with children.
What happens if I'm late picking up my child?
We ask that if you are running late, that you inform us of this as soon as you know. We will ask you to make alternative arrangements for someone to pick up your child if you are going to be extremely late and we will continue to look after the child in our care until someone can pick up.
What will my child be given to eat and drink?
We provide an AM and PM snack, and drinks all day free of charge to every child.
We have kitchen facilities which enables us to provide dinner for your child (small fee applies), alternatively you can provide a packed dinner for your child.
What if my child has a dietary requirement, can you cater for them?
We have both staff and children who have dietary requirements, so are fully aware about cross-contamination and how serious allergies can be. We can cater for them as we prepare our food from scratch. We are more than happy to provide free from food for your child (small fee applies). We are a NO NUT setting too.
How will I know what my child has done throughout the day?
We use online program called BabysDays.
We use BabysDays to record all nappies, sleeps, bottles, medicines and accidents. It is also used as an online learning diary, where the staff upload photo's and videos of the children and keep track of the children's progress in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).
All rooms have a WhatsApp group for all parents that the rooms will send messages home of what the children have been doing each day/week. We also have a whole setting WhatsApp group that allows management to send important information to everyone.
Each room also has a whiteboard that is displayed in the rooms window/collection area that tells you what activities the children have been taking part in throughout the day.
Will there be a particular member of staff who is responsible for my child's development records?
Each child is allocated a Key Worker, who will complete all your child's observations, next steps and planning.
How can I access my child's development records?
We have an online system called BabysDays. All records will be online; as a parent/carer you will be given a login code for you to access your child's records. You can then add observations yourself to your child's account.
